Drug distributors dispute Springfield man's claim

Two drug distributors dispute a Springfield man's claim that their product caused his diabetes.
Patrick Bills sued companies Bristol-Myers Squibb and Schering Corporation in July. He alleged he developed severe hypoglycemia and was hospitalized after taking the antibiotic drug Tequin.
The lawsuit filed in a New York City federal court accused the defendants of promoting the drug without adequate warning of serious side effects and injury risk.
Bristol-Myers and Scherings New York City attorney Matthew McCauley filed responses this month denying the companies were liable.
Tequin was designed, manufactured, marketed and labeled with proper warnings, information, cautions and instructions, the response said.
